I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen -- not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
Today started with a pancake dinner, goodbyes to the family and the beginning of a very long drive to Key West and the Southernmost point of the United States.
Although much of the debris had been cleared,
evidence of the four hurricanes this season was everywhere -- from split trees (right) to tarped-covered roofs. I did my best to avoid the construction
and closed roads to make it to my first big stop of the day: West Palm Beach. Talk about high society, this area was beautiful. As I drove down A1A
(Beach Front Avenue!), I was amazed by the lamborgini's, ferrari's, mercedes and other european cars driving right alongside me -- Vanilla Ice was right,
but I kinda felt like Jethro from the Beverly Hill Billies.
I didn't spend much time in Palm Beach and most of my friends told me to not even hit the brakes in Miami -- so I booked it down to the Florida Keys on
HWY 1. I am so glad I took this detour! Imagine looking to your left and then to your right to see only blue-green ocean! I was driving on the bridge from the movie
'True Lies' -- the scene
where Arnold grabbed his wife out of the moving limo -- it was awesome (I'm easily excited, ok?) . Luckily, I made it down just before sunset and got some
amazing pictures. I even
got a chance to see who I think was John Kerry out relieving some post-campaign stress (see bottom left).
I am planning on paying a visit to the original Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville and the Hog's Breath Saloon before going to bed early tonight... tomorrow I have a few more
sights to hit before heading back north on the west coast of Florida. No big stories today -- it was just a beautiful and relaxing drive! It's hot down here!
